Could one of these dogs be your new BFF?
It's no secret that we love rescues and we wanted to do our best to try and help animals in any way we can. That's why today we are featuring Marley's Mutts Rescue Ranch!
Marley's Mutts is a non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, trains and re-homes death row dogs from Kern County's high-kill animal shelters. Their rescue shelter stood out for us as we had heard all about its founder, Zach Skow. His goal was to give as many dogs as he can, a much needed second chance. We are so inspired that due to all their hard work, the centre has saved over 5,000 dogs!
Located in Tehachapi, California we had to go and visit their centre and see for ourselves.
Visiting Marley's Mutts:
On our visit to Marley's Mutts we were just blown away by the centre. It's such a lovely place for dogs and cats to be, whilst waiting for their forever homes. Although we want to do all we can to speed up that waiting period! It hurts our hearts that rescue dogs don't have anything to call their own. So we were really excited to gift these puppers FriendshipCollars, so when they do find a best friend, their matching bracelet will be waiting for them to wear! We had a blast kitting out their adoptable kitty cats too!
It was incredible to spend some time learning about this shelter and getting to play with the pooches and learn about the difficulties they have faced so far and why it would be awesome pawesome give them a second chance in a loving home.
We really hope that you fall in love at first sight with these cuties! Could you be the bestie they’ve been waiting to find? Fingers and paws crossed!
Meet Guz
Gender: Male
Breed: Lab, Mastiff, Boxer Mix
Age: 2 years
A little about Guz:
“Guz, short for Guzzler was found at a local gas station after a witness saw a truck run over him next to a gas pump!!! Luckily for Guz the witness swooped him up and took him straight to an emergency vet to save his life. Sadly they were unable to save his leg, but that doesn’t stop Guz from being a happy tripod! A little clumsy, he’s still getting used to having only one hind leg.
Best friend qualities Guz is looking for:
Guz seems to like most dogs he meets but a more chill dog to be buddies with would probably be best for him. We don’t know how he is with cats but we’re betting he would not be best friends with them..so a cat free home would be better! Guz does LOVE being with people and is a good companion during car rides.”
He may or may not have puppy dog breath, but we will let you come see him to find out!
Meet Sassy
Gender: FemaleBreed: Husky Mix
Age: 1.5 year
A little more about Sassy:
“Sassy is a playful medium to high energy girl who would do best with a dog experienced owner. She does great in playgroups with the large dogs at the ranch. She can not, however, be with small animals including small dogs. Sassy is a sensitive girl who only wants to please and will listen amazing is shown properly what it is that you want.
What Sassy needs in a BFF:
She would make a great hiking buddy or running partner. She loves playing outdoors and loves getting attention. Sassy loves all the people she meets and does well with children.”
Could your home be pawfect for her?
Meet Lilo😍 [She just got ADOPTED!]
Gender: Female
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Age: 3 years oldA little more about Lilo:
“Lilo is a 3-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier that was kept as what we call a “backyard” breeder. Her owners moved and left her behind. This actually breaks our hearts! The landlord eventually had to call animal control to have her removed from the property.
The only evidence that she had had a home was the choke chain collar still around her neck. Air conditioning, quiet surroundings, and a plush bed did not go unappreciated when she arrived at Marley's Mutts! She is quickly becoming a well-balanced, gentle mannered dog. Her newest trick? Holding the leash in her mouth and walking herself. Silly girl!”
What Lilo wants in a best friend:
She's looking for someone who can give her a cozy home, lots of love and belly rubs.
Meet Naaji
Gender: Male
Breed: Lab mix
A Little bit about Naaji:
Naaji is a super special dog, who came all the way from Saudi Arabia. He cannot use his back legs, and has had a long road to good health! Now he enjoys playing in the grass in his wheelchair with other dogs and relaxing in his special race-car bed. 🏁 Watch his story highlight on Marley's Mutt's Instagram feed here to see just how far he’s come!
What Naaji is looking for:
Naaji just wants an abundance of love. He's playful and happy and his wheelchair doesn't stop him from having fun! He's handsome and loves kisses!

A huge thank you to Marley's Mutts for having us. To Zach Skow for taking the time to introduce us to your centre, talking to us all about your incredible campaigns that help both pooches and humans alike and allowing us to cuddle the rescues and for letting us shoot some pictures. We hope that we did the pooches' personalities justice and can find them new homes!
