❤ Tell us a bit about your bestie!

Mireyah is an Arabian mare, born in 2008. Her color is flea-bitten grey. She doesn’t have a named discipline, but we work in liberty and do trick training.  

❤ How long have you been together? Did you come up with her name? 

I was a competition rider, I needed a bigger horse to continue with competition. In that time I was into horserace and the Arabian horses are known for being great racehorses. My family found Mimmi on a website for horses to sell. It was a long trip to meet Mimmi, so we decided to have our trailer with us so we could take her with us if I wanted to buy her. I fell in love the first time I saw her and decided to buy her and this was on 28th March 2013. She already had a name, but the owner at that time said ”Mimmi” to her so we continued with that too.

❤ How would you describe her personality? 

Kind, Intelligent, Nervous, Curious. Here are some of the words that describe her. Mimmi has a heart with pure gold. She’s one of the most kind horses I have met in my life but she’s also honest. She’ll tell you when you do something wrong or right. You can never lie for her. She’s also the most intelligent horse I have ever met, you can say things and she’ll understand you, even if you talk with words. To continue with the words she can be nervous for everything that is not as usual, that can be about a hay bale that we have moved to another place. However, she’s curious and wants to be brave, so she usually walks up to the things that scare her and sniff on it.

❤ What makes your horse super happy? 

When I’m happy. She loves when I’m happy and that’s the sweetest thing I have seen. We’re so connected to each other, so we follow our energies. Otherwise, what makes her super happy is when we’re going on hacks in the neighborhood, only me and her. Together!

❤ What’s the naughtiest thing she has ever done?

The only thing she might have done was when she got so scared, which I do understand because it was out of fear. But she decided to run and I couldn’t hold her. There was a whole pack of cows that decided to scare her. 

❤ Have you always loved riding? What age did you start?

Growing up with a bigger sister and a mom who have always loved horses it came pretty natural for me to also start riding. My family has owned this barn for over 30 years, so I have grown up here and when it was time for my sister to get a horse they had to buy one for me too (since it’s not allowed in the Swedish law to let a horse live alone). So everything started for me when I was 3 years old, I got my own horse and have since that breathing horse. 

❤ Does she have any funny quirk or habit?

She has a few, she can say no with her head (shaking it) even though she knows it as a trick now she did it before that. If I let the door to her box be the slightest open she’ll push it with her head so it opens, she doesn’t walk away but she loves the feeling of freedom. 

❤ What about your horse are you most proud of?

That she changed me. Yes, that’s true. She changed me totally. I was ready to give up as she was difficult for me, but decided to let go of everything I know about horses and let her teach me. She changed my view on horses and I’ll forever be grateful for that. Nowadays I do everything for our relationship and not for competition/accomplishment. Therefore I’m not a competition rider anymore, because I don’t like the view on the horses that they often have.

❤ What does your horse's day-to-day look like?

She lives in a stable with her horse-friend. So in the morning they get their breakfast, then we let them out in their pasture, where they are at almost 12-hours a day. I don’t train my horses everyday so some days they’re there the whole day before going into the stable for dinner and sleep. Otherwise I take one of them out from their pasture and train them, it’s all about how I work and when I have time for it. Sometimes it’s early on the day and sometimes it’s late on the day. 

❤ Tell us a funny story about your horse please!

When it was time for the horses to go into the stable for the night, Mimmi was first to the gate. The other horse, Julius, was literally as far away as he could from the gate and I didn’t want to go all the way down to pick him up. So I said to Mimmi ”can’t you pick him up”, she turned around, galloped down to him and neighed. She came back with him and literally, I’m still speechless. That was crazy and fun at the same time. My horse understood my language. She did really understand me. 

❤ What is the weirdest thing she has eaten?

She took a sip from my Coca Cola. 

❤ What has been the biggest obstacle that you have conquered together?

I was afraid of riding her due to accidents that had happened before. She was pretty clumsy as a young horse, so she stumbled in the canter and I got her over me a couple of times. So it took a long time for me to have the courage to canter on her again, but we did it and even without a bridle.

❤ What are your plans for the future, for you and your horse?

I want to attend more shows with her, as I know she likes the attention. It’s so fun to share our knowledge and how to train horses in a more kind way. I want to teach her to sit, but it’s the most difficult trick for her. I also really hope that she can be more confident with the trailer, so we can go on roadtrips. 

❤ What’s the best thing about having a horse for a BFF?

Horses are truly the best friend in the world because they listen to you, they heal you. They love you for who you are inside, not for your look.

❤ What does having matching FriendshipHalter mean to you and your horse?

It’s a fun and unique way to share our love and friendship with each other. I really love the idea of having matching FriendshipHalter. It’s like when you were a kid and shared a bracelet/necklace with your BFFs.
