♡ Your bestie’s name, age and breed?
Samson is a 1.5 year old English Mastiff and I have known him since he was about 2 weeks old. He has a “big brother” named Turk who is about 30 pounds (for size reference!).
♡ Can they do any fun tricks?
He knows the basics (sit, down, stay) and then he knows how to shake paws and crawl. He needs extra time to do his tricks because he’s so big, it takes extra effort to coordinate any movement! My goal for him is to pass the Canine Good Citizen test!
♡ Do they have a favorite summer treat?
Honestly, he will eat literally anything (we call him poop-eater, woodchuck, etc.) but he seems to particularly like cheese. 🧀
♡ What does your BFF do that always makes you smile?
Whenever I get ready to leave for work, he comes over and sits by the gate and waits for me to pat him on the head and say goodbye before I get in the car. If I forget to pat him, he stares at me as I drive away and guilt trips me, so I never forget anymore!

♡ What does Samson think about meeting new friends?
Samson thinks new friends are the best things, and will gladly leave his family to join a new, more fun family. 😃 He’s always by my side at home… but being with mom all the time gets boring and he wants to hang out with the cooler kids when he’s out and about!
♡ Have you ever travelled with your bestie?
Yes! We recently went to Pet Con in LA which was his longest road trip yet (about 8 hours each direction). We have also travelled to the beach (his fave), and to the snow (his second fave).
♡ How did you find your bestie?
My husband and I were visiting a friend, who’s dog (Samson’s mom) had recently had puppies! Of course, we fell in love even though we weren’t looking at getting another dog at the time, but we knew we had to have one of these adorable little things. When I went to pick out Samson and take him home, he was the only one that stayed out by me while his brothers and sister lost interest and went to the shade of their dog house. He has stayed by my side ever since!
♡ Is there anything Samson does that is a bit naughty?
He is still a puppy even though he’s so big, so recently he went through a bed-pooping phase at night which was terrible. He seems past that now, but his biggest naughty (and grossest) habit is that he eats poop! His brother’s poop, the pig’s poop, and sheep poop are his favorite choices. 💩💩💩
♡ Any secrets about them you can share with us?
He doesn’t understand how big and heavy he is, and his only wish in life is to be a lap dog. Since he can’t comfortably fit in my lap, he satisfies his need for attention by coming up to us when we are sitting and resting his head (which weighs about 20 pounds) in our laps. Even if you aren’t petting him he will usually stay like that for a while, until he gets too warm, because deep down he’s just a big baby. 👶
