Rescue Heroines!

In honor of International Women’s Day, we wanted to write a special feature about some wonderful women - FriendshipCollar style. So we figured what better way to celebrate than by sharing the stories of these inspiring rescue babes, who have had to fight so hard to overcome incredible hardships so early on in their lives.

This is Bella, and isn’t she a belle!

Bella was born in Honduras with a deformed, non-functioning front left leg, which made her life even more difficult as she had to scrounge for food on the street. Fortunately, Bella was rescued and ended up at Michele’s Rescue in Detroit, where she will be receiving an amputation and corrective surgery.

While at Michele’s, Bella is learning how to get along with other dogs and cats. She is still fearful of people, but with a little coaxing and healthy treats, she has blossomed into a very loud and boisterous puppy!

Every time you purchase a product from FriendshipCollar, it helps to fill the tummies of rescue pups just like Bella, supporting them on their journey to find their forever home!

Jessie

Meet this very special young lady - Jessie.

A young lab mix from the Tuscola County Animal Control, she was a stray who had a mild case of mange, a common skin disease in neglected, abandoned or homeless dogs.

With her high energy and good nature, a volunteer from Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan determined that Jessie would be ideal for the prison training program through Lakeland Correctional Facility.

The prison training program affords security screened inmates with an opportunity to train these dogs, collectively constituting a form of rehabilitation for both to reenter society as productive members with the encouragement of bringing positive attributes to the lives of others.

Jessie was paroled from the prison training program in January and was adopted by a wonderful family. She has kids to play with who are as energetic as she is, and she has a large yard where she enjoys playing fetch with her human siblings!
