FriendshipCollar Reps: Jordan & Bane
♡ Your bestie’s name, age and breed?
Bane, ~2yrs, Boxer/mix
♡ What is it like having a dog as a best friend?
I feel like I saved his life but he also saved mine. The feeling of having my best friend around constantly calms me and keeps us both at ease. We have a special bond that most people don’t have with their dogs and I am so thankful every day to have that bond with my best friend.
♡ What is the funniest thing they have ever done?
He is terrified of pine cones and while on a walk one day one was thrown next to him & he jumped really high and did almost like a back flip to get away from it.
♡ How did you find your bestie?
Bane was a rescue. He was brought into the animal hospital I work at very sick. With testing, we found he was positive for parvovirus. His previous owners were going to euthanize him. The doctor I work for asked them to surrender him and to let us help him. They did. During his treatment, I fell in love with him and knew I was going to take him home. After he was all better we neutered him and he came home with me as a foster pup. A few weeks later I came home and said to my husband “I paid his adoption fee today, he is officially ours now”. We’ve been attached at the hip ever since.
♡ What is your pup’s favorite season? What is yours?
Well since it is pretty much always hot in FL, I think his is fall because it isn’t too hot for him, the summer heat is brutal. Mine is Spring.
♡ What is their favorite way to relax?
By laying in the nice size dirt hole he dug in the back yard :/
♡ Are there activities your pup looks forward to every summer?
Playing in the dirt hole he created.
♡ Do they have a favorite summer treat?
Ice cream or pup cones. He has food allergies so he is limited on what he can have, during the summer he is able to have pup cones at a local ice cream shop
♡ Where’s your dog’s favorite place to go?
Doggy day care
♡ What does your BFF do that always makes you smile?
He will come up and force himself into my lap and put his head on top of my head.
♡ Any secrets about them you can share with us?
He is one the gentlest dogs you will ever meet. It’s so sweet when smaller dogs are around him, he will lay down onto his side to play with them so he doesn’t hurt them.
♡ Can they do any fun tricks?
He knows how to give hugs.
♡ What is the strangest thing they have eaten?
Our cat Batman’s poop
♡ Does your pooch like to swim?
He LOVES to swim. At doggy day care, even in winter, he is the one you’ll find in the pool. Even in their drinking water he’ll put his front paws in the bucket.
♡ Do you travel together often? Can you tell us more about your move to Japan?
Pretty much everywhere I go, he is right beside me. Given some medical reason he is my ESA, so he doesn’t leave my side. My husband & I am currently stationed in the Florida Panhandle with the Air Force. Next June we are moving to northern Japan for our next adventure. Bane & his big brother Batman (our 20 lbs American Bobtail cat) will be joining us as well.
♡ What are your top tips for being the best dog parent?
Put ALL of your heart into your dog. Even if it’s a foster pup. They are 100% in so you should be too. They rely on you, and in some cases (like mine) you rely on them most of the time.
